Welcome to EzBritz — a small British Shorthair cattery in Fareham, Hampshire, run by a GCCF judge of the breed. Every cat here is registered with the GCCF, and every kitten we breed is registered under our own GCCF prefix, EzBritz. Our kittens are raised underfoot in the heart of our home, handled daily from birth, and leave us healthy, confident and beautifully socialised.
We breed a litter or two a year. Cats are a hobby we love rather than a business, so nothing here gets hurried. Follow our litters, show news and everyday life with the cats, and do get in touch if a teddy-bear British Shorthair belongs in your family.

Kittens go home once their vaccinations are finished and they have had around three more weeks to settle, usually fourteen to sixteen weeks, and never before thirteen. Microchipped, vet checked, four weeks’ free Petplan insurance, and our support for as long as you have them.

The family behind EzBritz
We’re Ross and Paula Davies. We have both lived with cats since we were children and have been breeding and showing since 2004. Ross is a GCCF judge and sits on cat club committees, and is also certified in feline behaviour and in cat anxiety and stress. Paula is a qualified pet first aider, a certified microchip implanter, and trained in pet bereavement counselling. EzBritz is the British Shorthair side of a household we share with our Burnthwaites Siamese and Orientals.
Our foundation queen is RAYANSHEL WHOLE-LOTTA-ROSIE (Rosie) a black British Shorthair. Her first litter, sired by GrCh HENBRITS TOPGUN MAVERICK, arrived on 25 May 2026 and both parents are PKD1 tested clear.

I judge this breed at GCCF shows, which means going over British Shorthairs on the table. Other people’s cats, assessed against the breed standard, with a written critique at the end of it.
That is an unusual way to arrive at a breed. Most breeders start with a cat they love and learn the standard afterwards. I did it the other way round, and knew exactly what a good British Shorthair looked like long before I had one asleep on my sofa.
It changes what you get from us. When we plan a pairing we are not hoping for a nice kitten, we are working towards a particular type with a particular fault in mind that we want to improve. And when I tell you which kitten in a litter is the pick of it, that is the same judgement I make in public, on a table, with my name written underneath it.

What a kitten costs, before you have to ask
£1,200, with a £300 deposit to reserve.
We publish that because a price you have to ask for is a price that can move, and because you deserve to know before you get emotionally involved with a photograph. Most British Shorthair breeders do not publish one at all.
It covers both parents PKD1 DNA tested at Langford Vets and blood typed before mating, the full primary vaccination course with two vet health checks, microchipping done here at home by Paula, four weeks of free Petplan insurance, GCCF registration with the full pedigree, a written contract, and a kitten pack with the food and litter your kitten is already used to.
It also covers us being at the end of the phone for the rest of that cat’s life, which is the part that costs us the most and appears on no invoice.

We might not be the right cattery for you
Worth saying plainly, because it saves everybody time.
Our kittens go to indoor homes only, and that is a condition of the contract rather than a preference. Collection is in person from us in Fareham, Hampshire, between Portsmouth and Southampton. We do not deliver. Kittens are registered on the GCCF non-active register and cannot be bred from unless that has been agreed in advance.
They also leave at fourteen to sixteen weeks. Not eight, and not thirteen. If you need a kitten in time for a particular birthday, we are almost certainly the wrong people to ask.
There is a temperament point as well. A British Shorthair is not a lap cat on demand. It will not follow you from room to room or supervise your telephone calls. If that is the cat you actually want, a Siamese would suit you far better, and I breed those too, so I am not simply being unhelpful.
